Exchange Program Procedures for Incoming Students to EMU

EMU welcomes student nominations for our Exchange Program from our partners around the world to study at EMU, in Famagusta, North Cyprus.

Nomination Process, Required Documents and Application Deadlines

All exchange students must be nominated by their home institution to participate in the exchange program. Students will be nominated to the major at EMU that most closely matches their home school major. Students who meet the qualifications (expected min GPA: 3.00 and minimal TOEFL or IELTS http://fleps.emu.edu.tr/en/students/exemption-criteria ) will be nominated. However, this will be under review by the department officials.

In order to nominate, the following forms need to be sent to studentexchange@emu.edu.tr, Emu International Office Exchange program email address.

  • Completed Incoming Exchange Program Application Form
  • Most Recent Official Transcript/ Official Academic Record Sheet (must be in English)
  • Preferred semester of exchange Fall or Spring
  • TOEFL or IELTS score (Students must have a TOEFL score
  • Course Selection form

Nominations will then be sent to the department at EMU that most closely matches the home school major to be reviewed.  Departments will decide (either accept or reject) on applications within approximately five business days of the nomination date. The decisions will be notified to the nominees by the EMU International Office Student Exchange Program.

Accepted students will be requested to

  1. attach a copy of their Passport ID page and page showing passport expiration date, and
  2. return these required documents to Emu International Office student exchange program's email address (studentexchange@emu.edu.tr) by the following deadlines:
  • August 1 (Study at EMU for the Fall semester)
  • January 1 (Study at EMU for the Spring semester)

Tuition Fee

EMU tuition fee is waived with the exchange partner. Exchange students coming to EMU pay the tuition fee of their home university to their home university.

Housing

All incoming exchange students are recommended to plan to live on campus. There is a variety of options to accommodate incoming exchange students on campus. Visit:   http://dormitories.emu.edu.tr/en  (Please Note: EMU Dorms are a on a First come first serve basis)

Academic Calendar

All exchange students must arrive during the orientation period. Check EMU Academic Calendar Page and orientation page (http://www.emu.edu.tr/oryantasyon/) before you make travel plans.

Airport Pick-up

We have a service available upon request (http://dormitories.emu.edu.tr/en). Fill in the form and send it to studentexchange@emu.edu.tr at least 5 business days before your arrival.

Health Insurance

EMU has a Health Insurance Policy and exchange students are required to purchase health insurance as a condition of the program. It will be purchased upon the official registration of the student for $50. EMU also has a health center on campus where all students can get a service free of charge.

All incoming exchange students are required to report their arrival, address/change of address, and phone number to EMU International Office before add/drop date of the semester (EMU Academic Calendar).
