Within the framework of the Eastern Mediterranean University's 19th Orientation and Welcoming Days activities, the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) organised tours for newly registered students and their families with the aim of introducing them to the university and environment.
The tours included a Famagusta tour on the 23rd September 2016, a Nicosia and Kyrenia tour on the 24th of September 2016 and a Karpaz tour on the 25th September 2016.
Around 900 new students and family members took part in the Famagusta tour which included visits to the Othello Castle, the Lala Mustafa Paşa Mosque, the Namık Kemal Dungeon and the Walled-city. The Nicosia and Kyrenia tour included approximately 1300 new students who visited destinations such as the Selimiye Mosque, the Great Inn, the Bandabulya Market Place, the Yiğitler Burcu and Ledra Palas in Nicosia as well as the Kyrenia Castle, the harbour and Bellapais Monastery in Kyrenia. The Karpaz tour included visits to the Ayios Philon Monastery and the Apostolos Andreas Monastery.
In addition to the tours, informative meetings aimed towards new students are also taking place. On the 23rd of September 2016, the TRNC Police Department organized a seminar titled "Life in North Cyprus".
On the 29th of September 2016 a seminar titled, "Richness in a Multicultural Environment" will be presented by EMU Psychological Counseling, Guidance and Research Center and a seminar titled "Life in an International Environment" will be presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selcan Timur.
Welcoming Night
On the 30th September 2016, towards the end of 19th EMU Orientation and Welcoming Days, a "Welcoming Night" celebrating the arrival of newly registered students will be taking place in the form of a cocktail at 8:00 p.m. with the participation of the administrative and academic units as well as student clubs. Taking place at EMU Atatürk Square, the Welcoming Night will also host faculties', schools' and student clubs' promotional activities as well as various sports competitions, stage performances, concerts and recreational activities. Students and parents attending the Welcoming Night will also be offered unique Cypriot cuisine. New students will have the opportunity to meet and socialize with other new students in a similar situation to themselves.
