Students/ visitors can get to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) by air or sea travel. All flights to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) are connected through Turkey. This means even the final destination is TRNC all flights first stop at Turkey. There are regular flights from the major cities in Turkey (Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Adana, Antalya) to TRNC that only take between 75 to 45 minutes journey time. Ercan International Airport is a 30 minute drive to campus. It is also possible to reach Gazimagusa or Girne (in TRNC) via ferries from Mersin and Antalya Harbours (in Turkey).
Visa applications should be done either to TRNC Representative Office or to Turkish Embassy / Consulate (http://www.mfa.gov.tr) in your country. The tuition fee stated on the acceptance letter has to be paid first before applying for the visa. A copy of the payment bank decont should be submitted to the Registrar's Office for a confirmation of your acceptance to be sent to the Turkish / TRNC Embassy in your country.
All students studying in TRNC are required by law to obtain a residence permit. There are penalties for those who fail to do so, and you may not be permitted to leave the island until you pay the penalty for staying on the island on an illegal status.
Please remember that you are required to open a file within one month of your entry to the island. Otherwise you will need to pay the applicable penalty fee.
