EMU Is Among the World’s Top 600 Universities

The publisher of widely-referenced university rankings in the world, U.K. -based Times Higher Education (THE) has announced the ranking of the best universities in the world on Thursday, 2 September 2021. In the said ranking, universities were evaluated based on Education, Research, Information Sharing, and International Outlook. In the said ranking, the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) took its well-deserved place within the 501-600 band with a remarkable increase from the 801-1000 band, despite the general decline experienced all over the world and the 136 newly added universities.
EMU Second Best University in Turkey
Continuing its rapid development, EMU has successfully moved from 8th place to the 2nd amongst Turkish universities, leaving behind other universities including Koç, Sabancı, Bilkent, Hacettepe, ITU, and METU. Çankaya University ranks first in the 401-500 band. Two universities from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) also appeared on the list. EMU ranks first in the TRNC this year, as in every year. Whilst 5 universities made it to the list across the island of Cyprus, EMU ranks 3rd among these universities.
Oxford University ranks first in THE 2022 Ranking of the World's Best Universities, whilst California Institute of Technology and Harvard University shared the second place. This year, a total of 1,662 universities succeeded in appearing on the list.

Making a statement on the subject, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın expressed his happiness to have been informed by THE Editor that EMU has once again been included in the said ranking and been placed in the 501-600 band. Noting that EMU, as a state university, provides quality education, Prof. Dr. Hocanın added that as a university, they play an important role in education, research, and community services. Prof. Dr. Hocanın underlined that EMU is one of the most important institutions in the field of higher education. Thanking all EMU staff who made this achievement possible, Prof. Dr. Hocanın underlined that the university will continue its rapid development and growth.
