The need for all students to be prompt in registration has again been emphasized. This was made by a Ph.D. student at the Eastern Mediterranean University, Mr. Ridwan Olatunji at the 8th Nigerian student's general congress/town hall meeting held on Monday 13th November, 2016. Olatunji advised the students to tray as much as they can to ensure timely registration and make use of the opportunities the University has created. He stressed that there are limitless opportunities for students who register promptly. He encouraged the students to take their studies seriously and always ensure they are prompt in all they do. Olatunji had earlier expressed disappointment on the level of commitment Nigerian students' show to the society.
Earlier, in his address, the Nigerian Students' Society comrade Jerry Sambe promised to revive the lost glory of the NSS on the EMU campus. Comrade same said his administration would ensure all the promises made during the campaign period are met. He encouraged the students to show more commitment to the society as it is a representation of their country abroad. He emphasised that the society would ensure the dialogue appropriately with the university management on matters that bother on the members' welfare.
The NSS president later swore in other members of the society's cabinet. They include: Vice President; Ahmad Abdulkadir, General secretary; Favour Ogwuegbu, PRO1 (Publicity); Seun Adejumo, PRO2 (Publications); Clement Achiaga, Financial Secretary; Tejiri Okorode, Treasurer; Farouk Tijani, Director of social; N. I. Emeka, Asst. Dir. of Social; Abbati Ahmed Garba, Dir. of Sports; Udogwu Kingsley Ifeanyi, Asst.Dir. Of Sports; Jesse Alkali Obadiah Dir. Of Welfare; Uche Joel, Asst. Dir. of welfare; Trusting Okechukwu, Dir. Of Education; Adebola Abiodun, Dir. Of ladies affairs; Ponmile Alabi, Auditor; Iniobong Archibong, Liaison officer; Abdulkadir Azare, Dir. Of Special Duty; Kingsley Udofia.
The event also featured swearing-in of senators of the society and other activities. While addressing the new team the President enjoined them to see their various appointments as a commitment to serve EMU and their country.
